A Wellness Exam Isn’t Just a Box to Check

Many people think of annual physicals as just another routine appointment, but they play a crucial role in protecting your long-term health. A wellness exam is designed to keep you on track with recommended preventive screenings—to help you stay feeling well.

At Complete Care Physicians, we focus strictly on guideline-based preventive care during your wellness visit. This includes reviewing your health history, updating recommended screenings, and checking for early signs of silent conditions.

Please note: wellness exams do not include evaluation or treatment of new or ongoing medical concerns. If you have symptoms, questions, or issues you’d like to discuss, we’re happy to help—but that requires a separate routine office visit. This ensures we have the time to address your concerns thoroughly and meet insurance requirements for diagnostic care.

Physical Exam and Vital Signs

We check your height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and other basic health markers to monitor changes year to year.

Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing

We screen for anxiety and depression when appropriate. If necessary we will recommend a separate appointment to discuss issues in detail.

What Our Patients Say About Their Experience

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get a wellness exam?
We recommend a wellness exam once a year for most patients. These visits help track health changes, update screenings, and identify issues early.
A wellness exam is a specific type of preventive care visit. It usually happens once a year and includes a physical exam, routine screenings, a review of your medical history, and health counseling. Preventive care as a whole covers a broader range of services beyond the annual exam, such as vaccines, lab work, or screenings done at other times.
Most insurance plans include one fully covered preventive wellness exam per year. Our staff can try to help verify your benefits before your visit.
Yes. We offer wellness visits for children ages 8 and older. These include growth checks, school physicals, immunizations, and time to discuss development and health habits.

While we encourage you to bring a list of your medications to all appointments, discussing or adjusting medications is considered treatment, which is not an allowable service under preventative care according to insurance companies. Additionally, there isn’t sufficient time during this appointment to address your questions thoroughly. We would recommend you schedule a separate visit dedicated to reviewing your medications and any other treatment-related concerns so we can give it the attention it deserves.
