What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease that causes your blood sugar to be high because your body cannot process food into energy. It is life-threatening and should be addressed immediately.
There are two types of the disease, but they are very different. Type 1 is developed at an early age and is considered an autoimmune disease. Type 2 can be developed as an adult and can be the result of being overweight, having high cholesterol, viral infections, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or even a family history of diabetes.
How do we treat diabetes?
Our team is very skilled in diagnosing and treating diabetes. Once we run blood analysis tests and screenings to determine your blood sugar level and officially diagnose you with diabetes, we will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan. If you are especially concerned when it comes to dealing with your diagnosis, that’s what our doctors are here for. When it comes to managing your diabetes, we have resources we offer such as nutrition counseling, teaching you to monitor your blood sugar, and how to self-administer insulin injections.
