What’s Included in a Sports Physical

Sports physicals are designed to assess a child or teen’s fitness for athletic activity. We focus on health factors related to performance, endurance, and injury risk.

Review of Medical History

We ask about previous injuries, breathing issues, dizziness, fainting, and any known health conditions that might affect athletic participation.

Physical Exam

The physical exam includes checking vitals, joints and posture. We also listen to the heart and lungs to detect issues like murmurs or asthma.

Orthopedic Screening

When should my child get a sports physical?
Most schools and leagues require one before each season or school year. We recommend scheduling at least a few weeks before tryouts or practice begins.
A sports physical focuses specifically on your child’s ability to participate in athletics. It’s different from a full annual wellness exam, which covers broader health topics.
We still encourage you to schedule the physical. One of our physicians will review the condition, assess risk, and determine if clearance is appropriate or recommend further evaluation.
Yes. Bring all required paperwork to the appointment and we’ll complete it after the physical, as long as there are no medical concerns that require follow-up.
Absolutely. Whether your child plays through school, a travel league, or a local rec program, we’re happy to help them get cleared.
